Jacob Allday crashed his electric bike into a pedestrian on the pavement
A MAN riding an electric bike was said to be "flying up and down the pavement" shortly before he crashed into a pedestrian at a bus stop.
Jacob Allday was seen riding his bike on the pavement on Normanby Road, outside Outwood Academy School in Middlesbrough, in the minutes before he collided with his victim.
Teesside Crown Court heard witnesses described Allday as cycling at speed, with one saying he was “flying up and down the pavement” in the early evening of May 24 last year.
Allday, 30, was riding a Surron Light Bee x bike. The victim said he thought he saw Allday “doing wheelies” on the 30mph street pavement, before he stepped out from the bus stop and was knocked down. The pedestrian was dragged along the ground in the collision.
The victim suffered fractures to his collar bone, shoulder, elbow and arm, had at least seven broken ribs, a punctured lung and injuries to his chest.
