Hard work paying off for Boro at set-pieces

ROB Edwards admits Middlesbrough have worked hard on attacking set-pieces this summer, with his side scoring four goals from that means so far in preseason.

Boro have found goals from dead-ball situations hard to come by in recent years, managing only eight last term including penalty kicks. Already this summer, in four preseason games, Edwards' side have managed four from set-pieces - only one of which was a spot kick. They've done so with the same personnel too, as Dael Fry particularly thrives from the extra work scoring two goals and adding an assist.

Morgan Whittaker has played a big role, displaying his dead-ball quality throughout. As well as two goals from corners, Boro scored via an indirect free-kick at Rangers too.

Edwards was cautious in explaining the work being done, not wanting to appear to criticise Michael Carrick and his coaching team.
