THREE WINS FROM THREE FOR NEW BOSS
Riley McGree under pressure from Charlton pair Sonny Carey and Harvey Knibbs Alex Gilbert slides in for a tackle on Tyreece Campbell
MIDDLESBROUGH made it three wins from three under new boss Kim Hellberg as they beat Charlton Athletic 2-1, though they ended up making harder work of it than they ought to.
First half goals from Riley McGree and Morgan Whittaker capped what had been another hugely positive first half under the new head coach.
But having been so pleased with how his side managed the second half at Hull after racing into a four-goal lead, their game management was not so impressive in this one. They managed to battle through for their third straight win.
Hellberg made one change from the side that beat Hull City on Friday. David Strelec missed out through illness, which meant Delano Burgzorg started. In an injury boost, both Luke Ayling and Alan Browne returned to the bench.
Buoyant after Friday's 4-1 victory, Boro were straight onto the front foot at the Valley.
Thomas Kaminski has enjoyed some top performances against Boro in recent years and he was on hand to make three early saves to keep Boro at bay.
