DANGEROUS DRIVER JAILED FOR 10 YEARS FOR CRASH THAT KILLED MAN ON HIS WAY TO WORK

A DRIVER responsible for the death of a man in a collision on the A171 in North Yorkshire has been jailed for ten years.

Sahil Nagpal, 30, was sentenced at Teesside Crown Court on Tuesday.

Nagpal was found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving, and three offences of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, after a four-day trial earlier this year.

At about 7pm on October 8, 2023, Nagpal was driving his Hyundai i40 car along the A171 between Whitby and Teesside.

On a rural stretch of the road, near Scaling Dam Reservoir, Nagpal made a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre that resulted in his car colliding head-on with a vehicle being driven in the opposite direction. This car was being driven by Paul Brand, from Loftus, who was on his way to work.
