External consultants drafted in as council struggles with backlog

A COUNCIL has hired external consultants to help deal with a backlog of planning enforcement cases.

Redcar and Cleveland Council cabinet member Lynn Pallister said a senior planning enforcement officer had been on long-term sick, leading to a lack of capacity within the local authority.
