Edwards tells players to prepare for 'different' atmosphere

The Gazette

ROB Edwards admits he’s discussed the potentially unique atmosphere facing Middlesbrough at Hillsborough tonight, as Boro travel to take on crisis-hit Sheffield Wednesday.

- By CRAIG JOHNS craig.johns@reachplc.com @craig_johns

The Owls are in financial turmoil off the pitch and, with a debt to HMRC believed to be worth around £1 million due soon, the club are facing a winding up order which could result in liquidation if not repaid.

Amid the chaos, supporter groups have called for protests against owner Dejphon Chansiri, including a full boycott of the Boro game.

For their part, Boro have sold out their 3,966 allocation for the game, in what could be a unique scenario in which there are almost as many, if not more, travelling supporters as home. For Edwards, while he has sympathy for Wednesday's plight, he is businesslike in his pursuit of three points.
