VEHICLE-DAMAGED RIVER CROSSING TO BE CLOSED
LISTED building consent has been granted by councillors so repairs can take place to a historic bridge.
The Grade II-listed Upleatham Bridge in Upleatham, East Cleveland, which crosses Skelton Beck, has suffered repeated damage to a stone parapet due to collisions involving vehicles.
The work will involve removing a dislodged section and re-erecting it using as much of the original stone as possible.
If any replacement masonry is needed, the intention is this will be replaced with a sandstone of similar style and appearance, as agreed by the local planning authority.
