Coburn set for return to Boro - but future's far from clear

LIONS KEEN TO KEEP HOLD OF ON-LOAN STRIKER

JOSH Coburn’s uncertainty over his future was clear as he posted a message following the end of his loan spell at Millwall.
The Middlesbrough academy graduate has spent the season on loan with the Lions in the capital. And though Coburn spent two sizeable periods on the sidelines with injuries, he impressed during his loan spell enough for manager Alex Neil to admit publicly that they are keen to sign him permanently this summer.
On the Boro side, Michael Carrick refused to be drawn on what the future might hold for the striker, 22, only admitting that there would be decisions to be made at the right time, as is the case with any player. Coburn is expected to return to Boro for the start of pre-season to be assessed before a final decision on his future is made.
As things stand, Boro are likely to be open to his sale, but only at the right price. But they might yet change manager this summer, which could alter things.
Such uncertainty seemed clear as Coburn took to Instagram to post what is usually a farewell message after Millwall, like Boro, missed out on a play-off spot, thus ending Coburn’s time at the Den.
