Brittain on his way to Boro after fee agreed

MIDDLESBROUGH have secured the transfer breakthrough they wanted, after agreeing a fee with Blackburn Rovers for Callum Brittain.

Talks had progressed well between the clubs in recent days after previous negotiations over the right wing-back's valuation had hit a standstill. There was confidence at that time a deal was close, and resignation on the Blackburn end that they'd be losing such a key player.

Now Brittain is set to travel to Teesside to complete his medical and finalise the deal.

It will be a welcome relief for Rob Edwards, one week before the start of the new season, with right wing-back a key area in need of strengthening.
