Bravery medal for hero who saved 18 divers

A TEESSIDE hero who plunged into the high seas off Malta and helped save the lives of 18 people has been presented with a medal for his bravery.

Marcus Kitching Howe leapt into action when he realised divers were in distress off the coast.

During the drama, he tried to resuscitate a Dutch diver aged 45, but sadly it was too late.

Marcus, who hales from Swainby near Stokesley, was invited to a ceremony at Haberdashers Hall in London where he was presented with a bronze medal from the Royal Humane Society for his “persistent bravery” during the event.
