Boro squad in need of a Good overhaul - Don

DON Goodman believes Middlesbrough’s squad is facing another overhaul this summer - but says the fact that the majority of their loan players failed to impress last season leaves them in a stronger position.

Boro had five loan players last term, but only Ben Doak and Mark Travers were able to make a positive impact for Michael Carrick’s side.

Doak didn’t play a game beyond January though, and his early season-ending injury had a major impact in what ended up being a hugely disappointing tenth-place finish.

As Boro continue their review of the season and their future direction of travel, plans are already being put in place to prepare for what could be another busy summer transfer window.

Though not expected to be their entire summer transfer business, Boro have initially identified right-back, centre-back, central midfield, wide forward and a striker as their five biggest priorities.
