Bears and Tigers chasing wins for different reasons

The Gazette

October 03, 2025

FOR the second weekend running both Redcar Bears and Middlesbrough Tigers are in action, but chasing victories for very different reasons.

- By KEITH McGHIE

The Agilia Bears remain in contention for silverware on three fronts as, despite their sometimes traumatic season, they chase Championship, Knockout Cup and BSN Trophy honours.

Again they must get by on what is available as they must cover not only for out for the year Erik Riss, but also fast rising teenager Jody Scott, who is missing due to concussion protocol after crashing in the cup semifinal success at Oxford last Sunday.

Scott is ruled out for 12 days, which will include next Wednesday’s visit to Poole in the opening leg of the Knockout Cup Final.

Before that, this Sunday, the Bears play host to the defending champions from Dorset, when they bid to overturn a six-point deficit in the deciding leg of the Championship playoff semifinal, with Glasgow awaiting the winners to decide who takes the 2025 league title.
