Attempted rapist loses final appeal over conviction

A MAN who tried to rape a child has had his attempt to appeal his conviction and prison sentence rejected.
Ashif Nashaat, of Middlesbrough, was handed an 18-year prison sentence after being found guilty of two counts of attempted rape.
He tried to rape a child under the age of 13 and then again years later when she was over 16. Nashaat's initial application for leave to appeal his conviction and sentence was blocked in September 2023.
