VM Tomas Osmeña: New city administrator not his choice

While giving the newly appointed city administrator a chance to prove his competence, Vice Mayor Tomas Osmeña, in a media interview, admitted forthrightly that the official was not his choice, but of Mayor Nestor Achival.

In previous interviews with reporters, Osmeña commented that the appointed City Administrator, Albert Tan, does not have much experience in public service.

On Thursday afternoon, the vice mayor said he may have different choices from Archival. "(Tan) is the mayor's choice. It would not be my choice, but he (the mayor) is entitled to do that. We have to respect that," said Osmeña.

The vice mayor said he would prefer to handle things at his level, stressing that he does not believe in coordination, adding that it is one of the "bad words" in government. "It sounds nice, but it simply says that no one is responsible," said Osmeña.
