The Social Security System (SSS) will launch a pension reform program in September 2025, introducing its first-ever multiyear pension increase in 68 years.

- Ehda M. Dagooc

The initiative, endorsed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Finance Secretary Ralph G. Recto, is underpinned by comprehensive actuarial analysis and aims to enhance retirement benefits while preserving fund sustainability.

Approved by the Social Security Commission under Resolution No. 340-s.2025, the reform will increase pensions for all beneficiaries over a three-year period, beginning in September 2025.

The announcement follows Finance Secretary Recto’s discussions with the President, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to social protection.

The program introduces staggered annual increases, with retirement and disability pensioners receiving a 10 percent raise each year and survivor pensioners receiving a five percent annual uplift.
