Soco wants review of national infra projects here

In response to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.'s call to hold accountable those behind anomalous flood control projects, Cebu Vice Governor Glenn Anthony Soco announced a renewed legislative push to review all national infrastructure initiatives in the province --starting with a directive for the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to coordinate directly with the Cebu Provincial Government.

Soco emphasized that national agencies, particularly the DPWH, must now seek formal approval from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan before implementing any infrastructure projects within Cebu.

This is in line with an existing ordinance passed by the previous administration, which Soco vowed to fully implement under his leadership as the vice governor.

“That is also one of my legislative agenda to implement that ordinance. I've talked to the Board Members nga amo g'yud 'ning ipadayon,” said Soco.

This initiative closely follows Marcos' recent State of the Nation Address (SONA), in which he revealed that many flood control projects across the country were either substandard, failed, or did not exist at all.

“Kitang-kita ko na maraming proyekto para sa flood control ay palpak at gumuho. Yung iba ay guni-guni lang,” Marcos said, adding that those involved in such irregularities may face criminal charges.
