Regal Entertainment looks ahead after Mother Lily's passing

As with any media empire, the show must go on – even when its founder passes away.

Since Mother Lily Monteverde’s death in August 2024, her studio Regal Entertainment has continued to release films in cinemas, including their Metro Manila Film Festival comeback “My Future You”, its lead stars Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin having been handpicked by the movie matriarch.

One of their upcoming releases is horror film “Untold,” directed by “Mallari” filmmaker Derick Cabrido. Horror is Regal’s bread and butter, returning to the territory they know best.

“Untold”, in cinemas this April 30, stars Jodi Sta. Maria as Vivian Vera, a television reporter whose sensationalist style of reporting and questionable ethics come back to haunt her through strange, supernatural occurrences that only she can see.

“Everyone knows Regal for ‘Shake, Rattle and Roll.’ With ‘Untold,’ we want to do a different type of horror that is really scary from start to finish, but combines elements of psychological horror and the supernatural,” producer Keith Monteverde of The FREEMAN after the film’s press event at SM City Cebu, attended by Cabrido, Sta. Maria, and Juan Karlos.

“It’s a new type of horror from what we have done in the past, and my grandmother really loves the genre.”
