Philippine National Police (PNP) Acting Chief PLtGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. visited the wake of Police Capt. Joel Deiparine to personally extend his condolences at a funeral home in Mohon, Talisay City, Cebu, on Friday morning, October 31.

With him during the funeral visit were the chief officers of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Police Regional Office 7 (PRO-7), Cebu Police Provincial Office, Cebu City Police Office, and Talisay City Police Station.

Nartatez met with Deiparine's wife and two sons. During their brief conversation, he assured them that they will get justice for the death of their loved one.

In an interview with the media, the chief PNP promised that he would help Deiparine's eldest son, who wants to become a police officer like his father, enter the PNP Academy. He said that they are already processing the requirements to ensure the benefits that the bereaved family will receive from the police organization.

He added that the police force is already conducting an ongoing investigation of the October 25 shooting incident that killed Deiparine and injured another policeman, who were both assigned at the CIDG Regional Field Unit 7.
