Peaceful Holy Week
The Freeman
|April 21, 2025
Cebu experienced a peaceful and orderly Holy Week in 2025, thanks to the combined efforts of the Cebu City and Provincial governments, law enforcement agencies, and disaster response units.
Aderson Comar, Cebu City's disaster chief, said in an interview that only minor commotions and incidents were recorded during the weeklong observance.
"Hapsay ug hamugaway. Mingaw ra man...naa lay kagubot gamay kanang hadlok mabyaan, mag-inilugay, mao raman na especially sa port area," said Comar.
He also reported minor fire incidents but assured that no one was killed or seriously injured.
Despite the high heat index, there were also no major health-related concerns among the public.
Comar credited the smooth operations to strong collaboration among agencies.
"Daghan man ta, joint forces man pud. Sa Port area, naa tay taga Cebu Port Authority, nay police nag roving, nay medical teams, naa puy Maritime, and PNP personnel from different stations roving, unya naa puy mga taga Disaster. Daghan maka assist bisan asa. Sa Bus terminals, mao gihapon kay naa ang Cebu Province," he added.
