PDIC updates guidelines for bank advertising

In light of the recent increase in the Maximum Deposit Insurance Coverage (MDIC) to P1 million per depositor, the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) has kicked off a series of industry consultations aimed at updating key regulatory guidelines on bank advertising and the use of PDIC-related materials.

The PDIC is revising its Regulatory Issuance (RI) covering the proper use of the PDIC seal, insurance statements, and mandatory signage in bank marketing. The move seeks to align advertising regulations with the expanded deposit coverage, rapidly evolving financial landscapes, and the growing shift toward digital and online marketing platforms.

"These updates are critical to ensure that our regulatory framework remains relevant and supports both consumer protection and innovation in financial advertising," PDIC said in a statement.
