The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region 7 conducted a hybrid public consultation on proposed fare increases for public utility vehicles (PUVs) last Friday, with majority of attendees saying it isn't the right time to raise fares.
Transport groups, commuters, students, and operators were among those who joined to share their views, regional director Eduardo Montealto Jr. said in an interview.
"Majority of transport groups and commuters say it is not the right time to implement any fare increase, given that Cebu has just experienced two devastating calamities," Montealto said when asked about the results of the public consultation.
He explained that if fare adjustments are approved nationally, Cebu may opt to defer implementation based on regional needs.
