MCWD changing disconnection policy
The Freeman
|August 22, 2025
The Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) is making changes to its disconnection policy starting October 1, 2025, shortening the nonpayment threshold to one month while extending the grace period from three to seven days.
-
The adjustment aims to ease the financial strain on consumers while helping MCWD reach its 95% collection efficiency target set by the Local Water Utilities Administration.
MCWD’s current collection efficiency stands at 92%.
The revised policy is expected to improve this figure by encouraging more timely payments and reducing the financial strain caused by lump-sum settlements of multiple months’ dues.
"To help consumers avoid the stress of accumulating unpaid bills, the Metropolitan Cebu Water District will implement a revised water service disconnection policy beginning October 1, 2025," part of MCWD’s statement read.
