Mayor Ouano retains dep't heads, orders probe into delayed salaries

Ouano said that if any department head engages in misconduct, he will be forced to impose penalties in his capacity as the local chief executive.

Although he did not replace any department heads, he said he will assign key personnel who will serve as the mayor's aides and report directly to his office on departmental activities.

Ouano explained that this initiative is necessary because he has no prior working relationship with the current department heads.

“Mauwaw pa siguro sila nako kay again ang uban, kadaghanan, ang nagpasod nila ang previous administration,” he said.

Despite this, Ouano expressed his desire to build a connection with the department heads. On the afternoon of June 30, upon assuming office, he immediately convened a meeting to personally meet them.

“I just want them to know me better, my personality, what I want from the city, and makahibaw ko sa ilang mga background sad,” he shared.

Aside from building rapport, Ouano said the meeting was intended to surface the issues and concerns the department heads face.

Based on feedback from his transition team, he learned that some departments have long-standing requests that have remained unaddressed for years, including basic repairs such as leaking ceilings.
