Maxim drivers picket at LTO-7, decry "unjust” apprehensions

Drivers of Maxim, a ride-hailing service group allied with PISTON Cebu, yesterday (Sept. 15) staged a picket rally outside the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Central Visayas main office along N. Bacalso Avenue, Cebu City.

The drivers demanded the immediate release of their confiscated licenses and impounded motorcycles, which they said were taken during recent enforcement operations against transport network service riders.

According to the group, Maxim riders have been the primary targets of apprehensions, which they denounced as “selective and unjust enforcement.” In their picket, they urged LTO-7 to clarify its policies and apply regulations fairly across all ride-hailing operators.

PISTON-Cebu chairperson Greg Perez told The Freeman that many drivers rely solely on the platform for their daily income, and the seizure of their units has left them unable to provide for their families.
