Marcos wants lifestyle checks in DPWH probe

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered a “lifestyle check” into government officials and agencies possibly involved in corruption tied to flood control projects.

Marcos wants lifestyle checks in DPWH probe

Since the anomalous infrastructure projects are under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Palace press officer Claire Castro said the lifestyle check should start with them.

“Unang una, hindi po natin makakaila na may DPWH officials na sinasabing involved at malamang magsimula sila doon,” she said. (First of all, we cannot deny that some DPWH officials are said to be involved, and the investigation will likely start there.)

This entails examining government officials’ wealth and determining whether their spending reflects a lifestyle of luxury.

“Ipinagutos ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang pagkakaroon ng lifestyle check sa lahat ng mga opisyal sa gitna ng imbestigasyon patungkol sa anomalyang flood control projects,” Castro said in a press briefing on Wednesday, August 27. (President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has ordered lifestyle checks on all officials amid the investigation into anomalous flood control projects.)

A CHECK INTO LUXURY CARS?

She mentioned that the public has witnessed for themselves how contractors and officials openly flaunt their luxury cars and other assets.
