MARCOS ON NATIONAL HEROES' DAY: Corruption, rights abuses have no place in 'Bagong Pilipinas'
The Freeman
|August 26, 2025
Apart from honoring national heroes and frontline workers for their sacrifices, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. vowed to hold accountable those who abuse their power and are involved in corruption.
-
In his National Heroes’ Day speech, Marcos said sovereignty and freedom require more than a strong defense, adding that corruption, abuses of power and rights violations must also be confronted, as they rob not only taxpayers’ money but the future of the next generation.
“Bilang Pilipino, may pananagutan tayo sa ating bansa na maging mas mapanuri sa mga mali, na isiwalat ang panloloko at panindigan ang alam nating tama kahit hindi ito madali,” he said on Monday, August 25. (As Filipinos, we have a responsibility to our country to be more discerning of wrongdoing, to expose deceit, and to stand by what we know is right even when it is not easy.)
He also promised to expose the “whole truth” behind anomalies and wrongdoing, with the hope that such acts would not be done again.
“Pananagutin namin ang lahat ng sangkot sa anomaliya at katiwalian. Ilalabas natin nang buo at pawang katotohanan at titiyakin natin hindi na mauulit ang kawalan ng respeto at malasakit sa taong bayan,” Marcos said. (We will hold all those involved in anomalies and corruption accountable. We will reveal the whole and only truth, and we will make sure that the lack of respect and concern for the people will not happen again.)

BBM weaponizing the ombudsman?
If the nation takes the words of such trapos as Senators Imee Marcos, Bato de la Rosa, or Rodante Marcoleta, we would be led to believe the appointment of Jesus Crispin Remulla as ombudsman would foment political instability.
