Mandaue now under state of calamity

The Mandaue City Council has officially declared the city under a state of calamity following the devastation caused by Typhoon Tino.

This declaration allows the Mandaue City Government to impose price ceilings on basic goods and necessities, strengthen the monitoring and prevention of overpricing and hoarding by the Local Price Coordination Council for prime commodities, medicines, and petroleum products, and expedite government response and recovery operations.

The declaration also allows the city to access the Quick Response Fund.

Through this, the city had able to make emergency purchases --such as equipment rentals-- more quickly to support mobility and clearing operations, including the use of payloaders, trucks, and other heavy machinery.
