Mandaue City's lamppost controversy

What should have been a symbol of beauty and pride has instead become a glaring embarrassment in the so-called "new landmark" of Mandaue City.

A CCTV footage that went viral on social media shows that on July 1, a student walking along the street leaned on one of the lampposts installed in the very heart of the City's Heritage Plaza --and it collapsed. Fortunately, he was not hurt, and no other students or motorists were injured.

The innocent student ran away from the scene. He may have been afraid that he caused damaged to the lamppost. But no, he was not at fault. If anyone should be afraid, it is those responsible for this questionable project. In fact, the student has inadvertently become an instrument in uncovering what appears to be a flawed undertaking.
