iPhone 15 Pro Max-shot '28 Years Later' impresses with emotional story

It's a callback to how director Danny Boyle shot "28 Days Later" with Cillian Murphy in 2002 using a Canon digital video camera. This time, "28 Years Later" was filmed primarily with an iPhone 15 Pro Max, supplemented by other digital and film cameras.

Outfitted with lenses, rigs, and various attachments, the phone recreates the isolation and dread the characters experience, immersing the audience in a post-apocalyptic world in the characters' shoes.

While it's cool to see a zombie film shot on a smartphone with such impressive camera quality, the story is still king. Thankfully, “28 Years Later” proves why the franchise remains groundbreaking in the genre, thanks to a surprisingly emotional script penned by Boyle and Alex Garland.

As the title suggests, the story takes place nearly three decades after the Rage Virus first emerged in the United Kingdom. Though the virus, which turns humans into fast-running zombies, has been eradicated in Europe and presumably the rest of the world, the UK and Ireland remain quarantined and isolated from a society that has since moved on.

The film centers on a 12-year-old boy named Spike (Alfie Williams), who embarks on a dangerous rite-of-passage mission with his father, Jamie (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), in their island community. Their land is linked to the mainland by a pavement that is usually submerged in water and barely walkable.

BBM weaponizing the ombudsman?

If the nation takes the words of such trapos as Senators Imee Marcos, Bato de la Rosa, or Rodante Marcoleta, we would be led to believe the appointment of Jesus Crispin Remulla as ombudsman would foment political instability.
