Imee Marcos rejects proposed budget, cites waste and excess

Senator Imee Marcos on Thursday, December 18, said she could not support the proposed national budget, describing it as filled with “waste, excess, and deception.”

In a statement, Marcos stressed that Filipinos have endured years of frugality, sacrifice, and hardship, and that government spending should reflect the same discipline. “For three years, thrift, endurance, and suffering have been the norm for Filipinos,” she said.
Marcos added that she would not “waste the ink of her pen” by signing a budget she believes betrays the people.
