DSWD: Gains of anti-hunger efforts

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Friday said the recent drop in self-rated poverty and food poverty reflects the modest but meaningful gains of the government's coordinated efforts to combat hunger and poverty.

Following the release of the April 2025 OCTA Research survey, which showed a notable decline in self-rated poverty among Filipino families, the DSWD reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying anti-poverty and anti-hunger programs.

The nationwide survey, conducted from April 10 to 16, revealed that 42 percent—or approximately 11.1 million families now consider themselves poor. This marks an eight-point decrease from 50 percent, or about 13.2 million families, recorded in November 2024.
