Despite the “two conflicting bills from the Senate and the Congress," the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) will proceed as scheduled on Dec. 1, 2025 as confirmed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) 7 yesterday.

Comelec 7 Director Francisco Pobe said that it's action is based on Comelec Resolution 11132, which laid down the calendar of activities for the 2025 BSKE elections.

“We do not want to be caught flatfooted,” said Pobe during the Openline news forum.

“While naglalis pa sila didto unsaun na’g setup, magpadayon na mi because there is an existing law that directs us to conduct the registrations and to prepare for the barangay elections, which is scheduled on December 1, 2025,” he added, referring to the resolution approved on April 21, 2025.
