Cebu-based packaging firm shifts to greener solutions

Treasure Island Packaging Corp. (TIPC), the Cebu-based manufacturer behind the iPak brand, is accelerating shift towards sustainable packaging through a strategic partnership with Malaysia’s Lee Soon Seng Plastic Industries, as demand for food-grade containers continues to rise across the Philippines.

The tie-up will allow iPak to distribute more than 50 additional Benxon thermoformed products—from trays and bowls to clam-shells—on top of its nine in-house items, significantly broadening its product line without the need to invest in costly molds, which can cost up to ?2 million each.
For Gideon Ostrea, TIPC’s chief operating officer, the partnership is both a commercial and environmental decision.
