Cebu strengthens ties with Malaysia

After meeting with China's new ambassador earlier this week, Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival and Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro received Malaysian Ambassador Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino in separate courtesy calls that position Cebu in stronger regional diplomatic ties.

In his engagement with Mayor Archival, the Malaysian envoy discussed strengthening tourism partnerships and improving connectivity between Cebu and Malaysia, with the possibility of opening more direct flights to encourage greater tourist arrivals.

The mayor also raised community priorities such as solid waste management and inclusive programs for senior citizens, stressing Cebu's openness to collaborations that deliver practical benefits.
