Cebu City gears up for ASEAN, Sinulog

Despite still recovering from the devastation caused by Typhoon Tino, the Cebu City government is shifting into high gear for two major upcoming events: the Sinulog Festival 2026 and the ASEAN Tourism Forum, which the Philippines will host in Cebu City in January 2026.

Mayor Nestor Archival announced on Wednesday that the city is finalizing a Strategic Plan for the Cebu City Tourism Commission, which includes a long-term roadmap.

The plan, he said, aims to position Cebu as a premier destination for both domestic and international travelers by promoting sustainable, inclusive, and community-rooted tourism.

"We are currently developing a Strategic Plan for the Cebu City Tourism Commission a smart, inclusive, and forward-looking roadmap toward Tourism 2035," Archival said in a statement.

This plan aims to strengthen Cebu City's position as a top destination. Archival said, "By promoting not only the city's rich culture and heritage but also the sustainable and community-based tourism initiatives."

The mayor emphasized that tourism development must benefit all sectors, especially grassroots communities.
