To fully ease water flow and remove obstructions, Archival said there is a need to desilt from the sea’s entry point up to the trails leading to rivers.

"We don't have that equipment kay kana man gung inig sugod didto sa dagat, kinahanglan nga maglutaw ang atong equipment, ang atong daang equipment di man makahimo ana," said Archival.

On the declaration of the state of calamity, Archival said it would expedite the city’s preparations to counter potential flooding, including declogging and desilting. He added that it would also allow the city to repair damaged walls that help protect against water flow.

In addition, Archival said he requested the disaster team to man the command center 24/7 to fully monitor reports. He also directed that all radio frequencies be checked to ensure effective communication and the collection of calls and reports.

According to data presented by the Department of Social Welfare and Services, assistance has been provided to at least 54 houses, 62 families, and 263 individuals affected by the recent heavy downpour.

Archival also noted the need for prudent use of calamity funds, as it is still only the third quarter of the year, with about P60 million remaining.

"Dili na enough kung ato gyud ng pasagaran og gamit," said Archival, adding that it would be better to maximize only P10 to P15 million for now.
