Newly-trained barangay-based responders in the upland villages in Cebu City are hoping to achieve zero forest and rubbish fires during the dry season this year.
Last Friday, additional 200 barangay-based responders graduated from their three-day advanced fire techniques training at CREMDEC, Barangay Taptap, Cebu City.
The recent training saw over 20 barangays involved in the activity, namely barangays Adlaon, Agsungot, Babag, Bonbon, Budlaan, Buot Taup, Guba, Kalunasan, Lusaran, Mabini, Malubog, Paril, Pit-os, Pung-ol Sibugay, San Jose, Sinsin, Sirao, Sudlon 1, Sudlon 2, Tabunan, and Tagba-o.
Prior to that, there was also another batch the underwent the same training in Barangay Buhisan for the mountain barangays in the south district.
"Karong gipahigayon nga training usa gyud sa dako nga tabang nga makahatag og idea aron matabangan nato og pananglitan simbako og naa tay sunog sa atong mga forest ba ron or kanang sa bisa'g ginagmay lang nga mga sagbot," one of the newlytrained responder Edjyn Arda said, through the City's Public Information Office.
