Agreement allows south buses to stop at schools

Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro yesterday announced she has reached an agreement with Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival to allow provincial buses to make designated stops at universities along Cebu City's southern corridor, a development to resolve commuters' problems with the strict "no dropping" policy earlier.

Baricuatro said appealed directly to Archival to allow buses from the south for drop-offs at key schools such as the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJR) and the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U).

"I want to thank Mayor Archival for agreeing to it. At least atong mga estudyante makahunong na gikan sila sa South, makanaog na sila sa USJR and CIT-U," the governor told the media.

She emphasized that students were her priority for now, but discussions with Archival will continue to expand accommodations, possibly for other commuters.

Baricuatro said she sympathizes with students, pointing out the additional fare and inconvenience that both they and their parents face under the city's "no dropping" rule.
