6,500 security personnel deployed

FOR FIESTA SENOR

More than 6,500 police and other uniformed personnel have been deployed starting Monday to ensure public safety and security during the 461st Fiesta Señor and Sinulog 2026 activities.

The deployment was formally launched during a sendoff ceremony held at the Cebu City Sports Complex.

Among those deployed were 2,816 personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP); 145 firefighters from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP); 100 personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG); 637 members of the Philippine Army (PA); 324 jail officers from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP); 20 medical staff from the Department of Health (DOH); 324 traffic enforcers from the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO); and 603 force multipliers.

The ceremony opened with a Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Danilo Carido, O.S.A., vice rector of the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu. Basilica Rector Rev. Fr. Andres Rivera highlighted the religious and cultural significance of the feast of Señor Santo Niño and urged security personnel to help preserve the sanctity of the celebration.

Fr. Carido and the Augustinian friars of the basilica offered prayers and guidance for the law enforcement personnel tasked with securing the religious and cultural festivities.
