10-wheeler trucks temporarily banned from Mananga Bridge

Ten-wheeler vehicles are temporarily prohibited from passing through the Mananga Bridge in Tabunok, Talisay City after bearing pads underneath the bridge were found to be defective.

Mayor Samsam Gullas, after being alerted by concerned citizens on social media, met with representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to address the issue.
According to the DPWH's assessment, the defective bearing pads have caused a misalignment in the last two sections of the bridge’s southbound lane.
"According to the DPWH, wala magkatakdo or nag-abot ang last two sections sa tumoy sa south bound bridge because defective na ang bearing pad sa ubos,” Gullas said.
As a result of the defect, the sidewalk portion of the bridge has reportedly sunk by about 6 centimeters.
However, the DPWH clarified that the bridge’s foundation remains structurally sound.
