STERN NOTICE TO META ON ABUSIVE ADS

The Centre has issued a stern notice to Meta on Child Sexual Exploitative and Abuse Material (CSEAM) in paid advertisements on Instagram, sources said on Sunday.

"Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has ordered Instagram to disable all ads and content promoting and facilitating access CSEAM," the sources said.
In a statement on Sunday, Meta said it maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards CSEAM, including through advertisements. A Meta spokesperson asserted that it uses advanced AI technology to proactively detect and remove violating content while continuously strengthening its safeguards against offenders.
The company is in a constant battle with criminals who attempt to evade its detection systems by hiding among its 3.5 billion users, the statement said.
