PCMC maps 15 black spots
The Free Press Journal
|December 08, 2025
Government authorities have declared 15 locations in Pimpri-Chinchwad as black spots where several fatal accidents have occurred recently, officials said on Saturday.
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and the Pimpri-Chinchwad Commissionerate Police (PCPC) have joined hands to implement improvements at these high-risk locations.
In recent years, PimpriChinchwad and adjoining areas, including Hinjawadi IT Park, Talegaon Dabhade, Dehu Road and Chakan, have seen rising numbers of road accidents. Police have tried various measures to curb mishaps, but residents note that none have yielded sustained results. In a desperate attempt, police even banned heavy vehicles during peak hours within PCPC limits, yet accidents continue.
As public anger grows over the increasing mishaps, the PCPC Traffic Branch and the PCMC are jointly preparing a detailed action plan to reduce accidents at the 15 black spots identified by the police.
Measures will also be taken to prevent accidents in surrounding stretches.
