As retail onion prices hit Rs 100 per kg, consumers are feeling the pinch.

Approximately 13,000 hectares of onion crops in Nashik were damaged by unseasonal rains, reducing the post-Diwali arrival of new red onions in the market. This scarcity has driven wholesale prices up to Rs42-60 per kg. Although these prices may cover current production costs, they leave farmers grappling with prior losses.
