The Pune Parivahan Mahanagar Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) faced backlash during public trials of its double-decker buses on Friday as a fare of Rs100 deterred commuters.
The trial buses ran empty, with not a single passenger willing to pay Rs100 for a 4km ride through central Pune.
The trials were intended to gather feedback, but citizens trolled the PMPML administration over the high fare.
Speaking to The Free Press Journal (FPJ), Ramesh Jadhav, a college student, said, "I was curious to sit on the upper deck and experience the ride.
But Rs100 for just a few minutes on the bus is too much.
