The Kerala government has put on hold the operation of revised Kerala Teachers’ Eligibility

Test guidelines for appointments and prom ot ions in government and aided schools, responding to strong objections raised by teachers’ organisations ac ross the st ate.The decision was ann ounced at a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday by V. Sivankutty, who said the order issued on January 1 would remain fr ozen pending further con sultations.

The suspension applies to new eligibility norms that were to govern recruitment and career progression of teachers at various levels, including primary, upper primary and secondary classes. According to the minister, the government decided that implementation of the revised framework without wider consensus risked disruption to the academic environment and morale of educators.
