Opposition alleges hypocrisy by non-believers
Tamil Nadu is the only invited state government sending ministers to the Global Ayyappa Sangamam at Pampa on 20 September.
Ministers P. K. Sekar Babu and Palanivel Thyagarajan will attend. Other states including Karnataka, Delhi and Telangana have not dispatched any representatives, despite receiving invitations.
Organised by the Travancore Devaswom Board with support from the Kerala government, the Sangamam will host about 3,500 delegates. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate proceedings at 9:30 am. Registration opens at 6.00 am.
Three discussion sessions are scheduled, focusing respectively on the Sabarimala Master Plan, spiritual tourism circuits, and crowd control.
