Satheesan attacks Modi for hollow speech
The Free Press Journal - Mumbai
|January 24, 2026
No tangible development milestones were outlined and the address leaned heavily on communal narratives, opposition leader V D Satheesan said while sharply criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech during his visit to the state.
Speaking to reporters in Thiruvananthapuram hours after the Prime Minister’s programme, Satheesan, who leads the Congress-led United Democratic Front in the Assembly, said the speech offered “nothing concrete” on jobs, industrial investment, or fiscal support.
He argued that the address relied on polarising themes rather than measurable outcomes for a state grappling with high debt, youth unemployment and the need for large-scale infrastructure financing.
