Police crack whip on unsafe school transport

SCHOOL SAFETY | Over 77.39 lakh in fines collected; parents raise concerns after reckless driving incident

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police | Commissionerate’s Traffic Branch has intensified its crackdown on school buses and vans _ after repeated violations of traffic rules. Officials said that from January 2025 to date, fines worth Rs7.39 lakh have been collected from school transport vehicles found driving dangerously.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vivek Patil said, “It has been observed that vehicles, including buses, eco vans and auto rickshaws, are driving dangerously, risking the lives of school students. With collaboration from the RTO, they have sent their four flying squads for our help. Punitive action is strictly taken once found guilty”
