PMRDA issues tenders for Pawana, Indrayani revival

Tenders worth nearly Rs1,000 crore have been issued for the rejuvenation and conservation of the Pawana and Indrayani rivers, marking a decisive step in the longpending river-cleaning initiative in Pimpri-Chinchwad.

The Pawana, the city's primary water source, and the Indrayani, revered by the Warkari sect, are set to undergo comprehensive restoration under the project.

The announcement was made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Mahesh Landge. He said that after Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis sanctioned Rs526 crore for the Indrayani River Rejuvenation Project within the limits of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has now floated tenders totalling approximately Rs1,000 crore for works covering both rivers.
