MMRDA mulls UG tunnel to link SoBo, Bullet stn, airport

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is considering an extensive underground tunnel network to link south Mumbai to BKC Bullet train station, the Mumbai International Airport, and potentially even extend to Thane, Borivali, and the eastern suburbs.

According to officials, the proposed south Mumbai to BKC tunnel, which could also be integrated with the Coastal Road at Worli, is being positioned as a key solution to the city’s worsening traffic congestion and limited scope for road widening due to space constraints and the complex challenges of rehabilitating residents displaced by elevated road projects.
